Jerry Jarrett's career in professional wrestling began as a child selling programs at Roy Welch & Nick Gulas wrestling shows where his mother, Christine sold tickets. Soon he was helping promote, then refereeing, and then wrestling after being trained by eventual tag team partner Tojo Yamamoto. Jarrett's real fame and reputation came out of the ring as the promoter/owner for Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) & United States Wrestling Association (USWA), partnered with Jerry Lawler for many years. He worked with both the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) & American Wrestling Association (AWA). He consulted to Vince McMahon and World Wresting Entertainment (WWE) & Eric Bishoff and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). With his son Jeff Jarrett he founded Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling (TNA) in 2002. He was inducted into the NWA Hall Of Fame in 2009.
